The Uganda Aerospace Industry is developing a new material for aircraft and spacecraft. Elements exhibit unique properties based on their classifications as metals or non metals. The materials available are Aluminum, Carbon, Oxygen, Iron, Nitrogen, Copper, Silicon, Hydrogen and Neon.

Task:

As  a materials scientist, classify elements into metals and non metals to determine their suitability

With the help of equations, show how the metals you selected above  react with the following

• Water
• Oxygen
• Hydrochloric acid

Explain the trend of reactivity of the elements on the periodic down the groups and across the periods.

Explain which materials could be used for making the electrical components of the aircraft, suggesting a reason for your choice.
